Wednesday, October 2
8:30 AM - 9:00 AM
Current and Emerging Cyber Threats to Oil and Gas Production
Room: Ballroom AD

Critical Infrastructure has often been a priority target by nation states but as cyber criminals continue to increase their threat surface, oil and gas targets have continued to be targeted for ransomware and other criminal attacks. Where will these attacks go in 2020 and beyond and what defenses can we leverage against them.

Wednesday, October 2
9:00 AM - 10:00 AM
Deploying Public & Private LTE at the Wellsite
Room: Ballroom AD

For many, LTE is the answer to a wide array of needs; but it goes beyond the typical public cellular carrier, and can cause unease in being a sole source of communications. In this session, we will look at the current industry trends for LTE, how public and private networks can co-exist, and what challenges have evolved in the shift to LTE.

Wednesday, October 2
1:00 PM - 2:00 PM
Cooperative Network Management and Security
Room: Ballroom AD

This session discusses the efficiencies that are created when there is cooperation among parties that manage our networks. What are the business benefits to this cooperation, and how can we move beyond convergence?  We will look at how collectively we respond to threats, and where there are key areas that there can be consensus and agreement.

Wednesday, October 2
2:15 PM - 3:15 PM
The Uptime Realities of Deep-Water Networking
Room: Grand Ballroom AD

How does technology innovation keep hundreds of off shore workers and drilling processes online all the time? Downtime or poor network coverage limits real-time data and directly impacts productivity and profitability. In the ultra-deep water operations run by Pacific Drilling a solution to always-available network coverage includes a failsafe Software-defined WAN or SD-WAN solution. Pacific Drilling’s advanced office is 250 miles offshore yet functions like any other data-centric business in a network-rich downtown city. Through this first-hand case study, Corey Thompson will discuss network edge utilization that ensures online staff and operations including local caching without a nearby data center. Corey will then present the simple ways SD-WAN improves the efficiencies of satellite and LTE cellular networks in everyday offshore operations with zero latency.

Wednesday, October 2
3:30 PM - 4:30 PM
Keynote Presentation: Ben Reiter
Room: Ballroom AD

In 2014, Ben Reiter predicted the Houston Astros would win the MLB championship, when they were the worst team in the league because he saw they were utilizing data science and previously unseen analytics to transform their organization. Reiter’s book Astroball is the inside story and inspiring account of how the Houston Astros applied this next-wave thinking to win it all in 2017. Reiter will provide insight on how MLB organizations have converted to a data-first mentality to become successful organizations. Attendees will learn how the oil & gas industry can implement and embrace new data science strategies to transform systems and business processes to help improve your own operations.

Thursday, October 3

Thursday, October 3
9:00 AM - 10:00 AM
Houston’s 5G Future and the Impact on Oil and Gas
Room: Ballroom AD

As a hub of innovation, high-technology, and industry leaders, the activation of 5G in Houston not only effects the local consumer, but will change the landscape for the economy. How will Houston as a smart city become smart industrial complexes, and how will this impact the oil and gas industry as a whole? The discussion doesn’t stop at the Houston city limits, as we explore the 5g roll-out for parts of the oil and gas infrastructure which might not have been connected in the past.

Thursday, October 3
12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
Luncheon Keynote: Live Hack of a Mobile Drilling Platform
Room: Ballroom AD

Ken Munro will be presenting an industry first “Live Hack of a Mobile Drilling Platform”. During this innovative presentation, Munro will carry out some live hacking demonstrations showing how poor security practices can expose the user systems to compromise and what you can do to increase your protection.

Thursday, October 3
1:00 PM - 2:00 PM
Facility of the Future: Blank Check and a Dream
Room: Ballroom AD

If you had the chance to build the facility of the future (costs aside) with today's new technologies, how would this change the way your industry works: training, safety, environmental aspects? What would your facility look like: the people, the infrastructure, and the ways you operate? In this panel, we will discuss what the future trends are for these areas, and close the OilComm conference with letting you ponder: what would your blank check and a dream be?
